York Open Studios - weekend two
This year’s event will see over 160 artists from across York opening their studios and welcoming visitors. This annual event gives a rare glimpse into the creative methods of artists and offers an opportunity to buy work directly from the artists themselves.
Leon works in oils on canvas and gouache on paper. His recent travel poster inspired paintings evoke a sense of adventure and nostalgia in familiar landscapes, focusing on green spaces.

Rowntree Park Artists in the Park 2024
Rowntree Park’s ‘Art in the Park’ display is in the centre of the park, with a few additional pieces on display in the cafe. They have been running the exhibition since 2020 and each year they invite artists to submit pieces based on a Rowntree Park related theme.
The 2024 theme was “pollinators”. I chose a view from the beautiful flower gardens looking towards the cafe for my piece this year, once again in the nostalgic style of the early 20th century railway posters. This piece was also selected to feature in the 2025 calendar, the proceeds from which support the upkeep of the park.

York River Art Market 2024
The award winning YRAM returns to the riverside this Summer , as it enters its 8th year. Often compared to the Left Bank in Paris , YRAM is situated along Dame Judi Dench Walk. This is a gem of a city centre riverside location nestled besides the beautiful Museum Gardens.
William the Bull back at the Yorkshire Show
After a fantastic response to William the Bull at the 2023 Yorkshire Show, it was great to be asked to once again display the piece at the Great Yorkshire Show. As part of the well established outfitters Clarkson’s of York’s concession, William helped to draw in the crowds and made a fitting backdrop for their multitude of countryside apparel.
York in 100 Years Exhibition
From 1st July to 20th August 2023, we invited local residents to imagine what life in York might be like in 100 years’ time through the medium of visual arts. The participants were encouraged to share their ideas, fears, and hopes surrounding the impact of climate change on our city.
In receiving submissions from adolescents to adults, and younger children, some impressively original ideas emerged. From a city given over to shipping container storage, through a large bubble-like dome protecting York’s submerged historic buildings, to ghost police forces and authoritarian lampposts, these artworks are a testament to the power of imagination.
Spark York Time Capsule
As part of the 100 years in York project, Spark commissioned a time capsule to be saved in the University of York archives.
You can read more about it in the York Press
I was pleased to be chosen to represent Spark and all the artists involved, to hand over the time capsule to the Borthwick Institute for Archives, to be rediscovered in 2050.
Rowntree Park Artists in the Park 2023
After the success of Art in the Park for the last two years, the Friends of Rowntree Park are launching their third year of ‘Art in the Park’.
